Fabricated Image Objects, 2023As an artist, Yang Siyeong uses the digital images of Louis Quatorze that abound on the internet to deconstruct and reinterpret them to complete ‘Fabricated Image Objects’. By replicating the iconic patterns and forms of Louis Quatorze with new materials and techniques, he creates symbolic objects with incomplete forms and functions. Through a series of works, he provokes tension between physical objects and digital images and presents new perspectives on the cycle of image consumption. Chain Jewelry Objects transform the chains of Louis Quatorze bags into physical pieces by printing them as digital images. ‘Floor Garment’ and ‘Chair Garment’ exist as garments or visual objects with usage depending on the display style and explore the boundaries between object garments and image fragments.
Artist BiographyYang Siyeong is an artist who explores conceptual visuals based in Berlin. Through observing the massive visual images in which people, objects, and reality are intertwined and entangled with virtual worlds and interact with them on social media, he is researching the meaning and symbolism that images hold in digital capitalism. Using "replica" as a methodology, he recreates existing design icons as incomplete image objects with new contexts, creating narratives from diverse perspectives.
