Sang-hyun Cho

Rajikon Series, 2022 The Rajikon Series was created by Sang-hyun Cho (Hitencho) using several keywords found in the Louis Quatorze brand which includes France, tradition, classics, craftsmanship, South Korea, culture, subculture, and low-tech. He categorized those keywords into gender and generation to reinterpret culture for creating ‘Boys’ series. Among the many elements of boy culture, such as hip-hop, skateboards, moped gangs, and cars the artist was attracted to the radio-controlled cars (RC Cars) from 80’s and 90’s. He was boldly enough to borrow the design and manufacturing techniques of the RC cars to break away from the typical design of women's handbags with his design experiment.

Artist Biography Designer Sang-hyun Cho, who runs the design studio HITENCHO, uses various materials and mechanical devices to plan the process of making works and constantly tries to create new things of his own. After completing his bachelor's degree in industrial design at the University of Seoul, he completed his master's degree in conceptual design at Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Currently, he teaches at Hongik University, Korea National University of Arts, and the University of Seoul.
